Breathable Horse Boots - What's Important to Look for....

Choosing your horse's boots

There are so many horse boots on the market, it has become a very complicated process when choosing what is right for your horse or pony.

What are the questions that are important to ask?

  • Does my horse or pony need boots?

It might be that the reality is that your horse or pony, and the activities that you pursue with your horse or pony do not warrant the need for horse boots at all, and that's ok!

  • Am I buying boots because they match my horse or pony's outfit?

Fashion has become a big driver to how people make their decisions now a days.  It would be worth asking the question as to whether you are looking for a fashion item or a performance item.  If it's fashion, be diligent around the effects that they have on your horse or pony, and whether it's a worthy choice for your horse or pony.  If it's performance it's worth asking "what am I looking to protect?"

  • What are you looking to protect?

This question is key to help you assess the shape of the boot, the protection levels, the time that your horse will be wearing the boots for.

  • Have the boots been researched effectively, consistently?

If you are looking for impact protection, have the boots had impact and pressure tests performed on them? Have the boots had thermal imaging tests and temperature tests carried out on them?  Do you know the weight of the boots?  Do they hold water?  How durable are they?

  • Are the boots made consistently with the same materials every time?

When products are mass produced, often the manufacturers change the materials to lower costs, and sometimes this means that a lesser quality fabric is used.  The tests that were carried out might be on a different style of boot with different materials used for example.  Therefore it is important to sense check the materials first prior to making a commitment.

  • Do the boots have a warranty on them?

If the company is committed to making high quality products that genuinely protect your horse it's likely they will offer a warranty or a repair service.  This is an important offering to help determine your choice.

HUSK Air Boots have the following answers to the above questions:

  • Have the boots been researched effectively, consistently?  Are the boots made consistently with the same materials every time?

HUSK have carried out consistent temperature tests using thermal imaging technology alongside vets and professional riders in all weathers to demonstrate consistent results.  We have also carried out placebo controlled trials alongside vets.

In terms of impact, the materials used by HUSK have lab controlled compression test statistics.  We only use these fabrics, and we oversee our manufacturing in our UK factory to ensure consistency.  The team have also performed impact tests using a 5kg axe to assess the protection provided by impact dissipation as well as fabric impact resistance.

We have compared our HUSK Air Boots against Le Mieux, Equilibrium, Premier Equine, and Majyk Equipe.

We know where we source our hook and loop, binding, cottons, and we design our own elastic, and of course the body of the HUSK Air Boots is made from NASA and Military fabrics.

  • Do the boots have a warranty on them?

Yes HUSK Air boots have one year's warranty on them.  We trust that our boots are so well made that if they fail within a year we look to replace or repair them for our customers.
