The Science Behind Our Horse Wear - Tried and Tested
We are proud to state that ALL of our kit is tested regularly to continuously prove the claims that we make.
Thermal Imaging - our boots have been tested using thermal imaging to measure temperature control before, during, and after exercise, and the visually represent the porosity of the boots. Results on our Blog Page.
Impact Testing - to test the level of impact protection that our boots provide, we have tested the boots with an axe on soft wood vs no boot and competitors to soften the blow between the axe and soft wood. Results are on our Blog Page.
Weight - the boots have been weighed at an average of 160g per boot
Drying time - the boots have been submerged in water and weighed. The boots were left to dry for 30min and weight taken at intervals between that time to measure time to dry with no heat support. This was compared to a standard medicine boot. Results are on our Blog Page.
Water Absorption - the boots have been tested by running water over the boot to see the proportion of water passing through. The video is available to view on our Blog Page.
Durability - the boots have been, and are still being tested by some of the best competitive riders in the world. Some of our top riders have been testing the boots since the beginning of 2016, when HUSK evolved. Any issues that arise are managed and resolved immediately.

Temperature Control - the cloths have been tested via individual case study reviews. After rigorous exercise, we test the cloths for sweat marks under saddle vs non porous girth.

The Technical Talk:
All of our products are made with material that is more than a simple mesh, with no neoprene or perforated foams - PURELY BREATHABLE!
The outer layers have a holed texture, for the escape of excess hot air and sweat, and these layers are held in place by thousands of monofilament fibres creating a passage for airflow which enables thermoregulation.
We have carefully selected varying combinations of technical materials in relation to thermoregulation properties, texture, and thickness to create the best effect for each individual product.
The material comprises of two holed layers separated by thousands of monofilament fibres. The larger holed top layer takes in the air from the atmosphere and holds it within the boot, and the gap between the layers allows the air to flow freely and keep the temperature constantly cool. The holed layers also allow the heat and sweat to evaporate away from the skin out and away into the atmosphere, rather than absorb into the material. This minimises bacterial and fungal build up thin the boot.
These innovative designs have PATENTS PENDING and REGISTERED DESIGNS
The monofilament fibres found in between the layers of material create a sponged effect and spreads the force from any impact applied to the body as opposed to a hard material that focuses the impact without absorption, often resulting in shattering, or concussion injuries. The HUSK material is also rip stop, providing that added protection and confidence.
The material is super light, the Exercise Boots are only 160g! This adds no unnecessary weight to the horse, and particularly with the leg protection, helps to prevent injury and slipping without compromising performance.
All products are machine washable, and also scrub up pretty well with a pressure hose! They dry in up to 30min. No more hanging sweaty gear up for days on end to dry!
